Every time I have oral sex, I get a yeast infection. Can someone tell me why because it’s driving me crazy!
The truth is that the female vagina is a very sensitive area that needs to maintain a certain pH level in order to be ready and eager to procreate. Now, if you upset that pH level in any way, you increase the possibility of a yeast infection.
Since this seems to be happening when your partner gives you oral sex, there are a few things that you might want to ask them to do. First of all, make sure their mouth is clean. If they’ve had any sugar in the past few hours, make sure they rinse their mouth out thoroughly and brush their teeth and tongue with a sugar-free toothpaste. Sugar feeds yeast, so when you get sugar in your vagina, you can increase the rate of yeast infections you get.
In addition, you need to make sure you’re not over-cleaning your vagina with douches or other cleansing products. The body does a fine job on its own of cleaning up things down there. Just use fragrance free soaps and warm water. Anything that might contain sugar or fragrances might also be causing your higher incidence of yeast infections.
If none of these tips work, you might want to see your gynecologist. They can prescribe medications to control your infections and check to make sure nothing more serious is happening in your body.
